Chapter 255: A Secret Between Two (Part 1)
On his way to Incheon Airport to meet Christine, Ryu Min received an important phone call.
“Christine suspects me?”
— Yes. I definitely heard it from Jeffrey.
It was about the possibility that the Prophet and the Black Scythe might be the same person.
“Understood. I’ll handle the rest myself.”
— Alright. Please be careful, Master.
“What a load of nonsense.”
Ryu Min hung up the phone with a faint laugh. But his expression quickly turned serious as he fell into thought.
‘Christine suspects me...’
This wasn’t something to take lightly.
‘How did she find out? I haven’t done anything suspicious lately... Oh!’
A scene suddenly flashed in his mind.
When he killed the three thugs targeting Christine using the Dark Dagger.
‘It must have been then. I thought she was asleep because I couldn’t read her thoughts... Was she awake?’
Despite his caution, it seemed she had found out about his actions.
‘This is troublesome. It’s not ideal for anyone else to know my true identity yet...’
He’s been living a double life until now. If he admits that both identities are the same, Christine might feel a sense of betrayal. She might even turn away from him, feeling deceived.
‘Christine turning her back on me... Just imagining it is dreadful.’
Without Christine’s help, he’d essentially lose one of his resurrection chances. In this final regression, Christine’s abilities were indispensable.
If he admitted the truth, their relationship would surely deteriorate.
He had to deny it, no matter what.
‘The problem is, what excuse should I use...?’
Even as he arrived at the airport and prepared to board his flight to the US, he couldn’t come up with a suitable excuse.
‘I’ll just have to flat-out deny it. Worst case, I could use the Memory Erasure Potion.’
It felt wasteful to use such a valuable potion for this, but he had two. Using one might not be too much of a loss.
“It’s tidy.”
Christine blushed faintly, possibly embarrassed about bringing a man into her personal space.
Ryu Min glanced around and remarked:
“There’s only one chair.”
“Ah, y-you’re right. Please wait, I’ll bring another one!”
Christine quickly dashed out and returned with a chair.
After placing the chair, Ryu Min quietly locked the door.
Click—
The faint sound of the lock seemed to echo in the small room. The atmosphere grew subtly awkward.
But Ryu Min, as always, spoke calmly.
“Do you know why I’m here?”
“To share information about the 16th round strategy...?”
“That’s one reason. But there’s another.”
“Another reason?”
“To clear up a misunderstanding.”
Christine’s heart skipped a beat.
‘Does he know I suspect him?’
But Ryu Min’s words had a different meaning.
“I wanted to explain why I summoned John Delgado.”
“Oh...”
Christine’s expression shifted, indicating genuine curiosity.
“I was surprised, honestly. You saved John Delgado in the 15th round. I wondered if you forgot about my history with him.”
“Of course not. I was the one who saved you from him, remember?”
“Then why did you save him? The man who tried to kill me?”
“Because John Delgado is now under my control.”
“What?!”
